Mazile is a two-person translation practice. We work on technical documentation — installation manuals, maintenance procedures, material specifications and the paperwork that has to go with them.
Most of what we translate is read by someone standing next to a machine. That shapes how we work: terminology is kept in a glossary per client and reused, measurements and part numbers are checked twice, and anything ambiguous in the source gets queried rather than guessed. We would rather send a short list of questions than deliver a document that reads well and says the wrong thing.
What we usually handle
- Manuals and procedures
- Installation, operation and maintenance documents, including the illustrations and callouts that go with them.
- Specifications and data sheets
- Material and product specifications where the numbers matter more than the prose.
- Compliance paperwork
- Declarations, safety instructions and labelling text that has to match a required wording.
- Revisions
- Updating an existing translated set when the source document changes, so the two stay in step rather than diverging over a few releases.
How we quote
By the document, not by the word, once we have seen it. A short manual with heavy repetition and a short manual full of one-off terminology take very different amounts of time, and word counts hide that. Send the file and we will come back with a figure and a date.
We take a limited amount of work at a time and are usually booked a few weeks ahead. If the timing does not fit we will say so rather than accept and run late.
